Ever heard of a violinist in an auto rickshaw? Seen vertiginous walking feet or strange people with cameras on their forehead? Visited an ICU corridor in a plant-hospital?
Basement 21 welcomes you to ALL OF THIS at Goethe-Institut, Chennai on November 21st & 22nd, 3:30 to 8:30 PM.
Pause/Play is a series of artistic interactions, site-specific installations and performances – music, dance, film, installation,….. in a playful, yet thought-provoking structure, all responding to the idea of interruption, breaking or bursting in the middle of a flow in the routine running of the Goethe-Institut (Chennai) as an institution.
Do take a look at the flyers for more. And here is a preview by Narthaki thanks to Anita Ratnam.
ACROSS, NOT OVER
`Across, Not Over‘ is a dance creation choreographed by Preethi Athreya, performed by Vikram Iyengar. The hour-long piece engages with the kathak dance form in an essentially material way. The work fragments the kathak body and re-presents it in a newly-assembled poetics. It challenges the verticality of the form and the hierarchy of the feet. The exploration questions and re-frames notions of classicism and beauty by presenting the dancing body as an image of itself.
All are welcome to the debut performance at Spaces, 1, Elliots Beach Road, Besant Nagar, Chennai on October 11th and 12th, 2014 at 12:00 noon.
The project is supported by the India Foundation for the Arts.
